John Gates

After a period working overseas, I returned two years ago to live in the house in Wigginton that was my childhood home and was originally built by my grandfather in 1912. Some of the older generation will remember my father and grandfather who were the village butchers in Wigginton for many years.

I have worked in sales & marketing all of my career and have had experience as a company director working in both in Australia and in the UK. I believe that this commercial experience, together with a passion for resolving local issues means that I genuinely have something to offer as a Parish Councillor.

Kath Spence

My husband and I with our four children moved from Haxby to Wigginton in 1981 when we built our family home in which we lived for nearly 30 years. Over 20 years ago I first became acquainted with the Parish Council when I became the clerk for a few years and which was very interesting but unfortunately due to a family illness I had to give this up. When a vacancy came up on the parish council a few years ago I decided it would be interesting to be part of the council again and applied for the vacancy.

Carol Runciman

Having lived in Wigginton for over 20 yrs, Carol knows the area well. She has served on the Parish Council for almost 17yrs, has been the Chair, and still serves as the Chair of the Finance Committee. After a long career in Further Education and Education Management, Carol became a city councillor in 1998, and held the Portfolio for Children and Young People for eight years, and is now the Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group.

John Jeffery

I have lived in the village since 1947 and I am married to Wendy.
I am the President of Grass Hoppers Football Club, Chairman of the Wigginton Sports and Playing Fields Association, have been a Parish Councillor since 1976 and have served on many of its committees and previously held the position of Chairman. I have worked with Wigginton Primary School since 1974 ( and long may it last).

Jack Wreglesworth

Jack has lived in Wigginton all his life and served on the Parish Council for a number of years.Thirty five years ago he started the family business as a coach/bus operator.Prior to that he served in the MOD Police.

Paul Firth

Cllr Firth moved to Wigginton in August 1998 and established his family home in Back Lane. In 2002 he retired from the Army after 30 years service in the rank of Lt Col and then took a Retired Officers post in Imphal Barracks York for the next 2 years. In 2002 Cllr Firth was co-opted onto the Parish Council and has successful stood for re election in 2004 and 2011.
Cllr Firth successfully stood as the Lib Dem candidate for the Haxby and Wigginton Ward of CYC in the 2007 elections. He was re elected in 2011.

Mary Fisher

I moved to Wigginton in 1971 and my children attended Wigginton Primary School and then Joseph Rowntrees Comprehensive. My son joined Wigginton Grasshoppers Football Club at its inception. As a result I became a supporter and with other enthusiastic parents helped out when I could. I worked for several years at Newshaws in Haxby and got to know a lot of locals in both villages.
I spent over 15 years working at an Insurance Brokers, after which time I moved in an entirely different direction and became a hackney driver. I am now semi retired and would like to contribute to the community however I can.

Sandra Finch

“I am fairly new Parish Councillor having just moved into Wigginton two years ago. I do know the area quite well though having lived in Haxby for 19 years until 1998 bringing up my family. I am retired from work as an Operations Manager at Aviva and find myself busier than ever now I am not governed by the daily ‘nine to five’.”
